A 36 year old man, Sunil Kadam, was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife Pranali on Wednesday, August 21.

According to the police the couple had a fight the same morning around 5 am after which Kadam went off to sleep. Pranali went to the kitchen saying, she was going to get herself a glass of water. She came back with a knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach repeatedly  for 11 times and slit his throat. After this she went straight to the living room where her in-laws and two daughters were sleeping and told them that Sunil had committed suicide. The family members rushed to the hospital but he had already died by that time.

“Ananda, the victim’s father complained to us and we started to probe,” said inspector DS Patil of Tulinj police station. “It is impossible for a man to self-stab and that too 11 times in the stomach and neck, so we sent the body for post mortem and questioned Pranali,” he said.  Pranali eventually told the police that she had found out about Kadam having an extramarital affair and had murdered him as an act of revenge.

Pranali  initially claimed that Kadam had killed himself but the family of the deceased voiced their  suspicion about her version following which she eventually confessed to the murder. She has been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302(murder) and will be produced before Vasai court today (August 22).

The couple had a love marriage and had been together since 2011. They lived in Gala nagar, Nallasopara, with Pranali’s in laws and two daughters, aged seven and eight months.
