In a televised message, PM Modi had asked the people to clap, beat steel plates and ring bells during the Janata curfew on Sunday, March 22 to express gratitude towards those risking their lives and working tirelessly during the coronavirus outbreak.

In his televised address to the nation at 8 pm, PM Modi had also discussed ways of battling against the Covid pandemic. However, it was India’s first lockdown to fight against Covid-19. People were left confined to their homes after PM Modi asked citizens to follow strict guidelines to curb the spread of the infection.

However, for a moment, when the citizen had clapped, beaten steel plates and rang bells during the Janata curfew, the situation had been turned into a festival-like event.
