After the Taliban took over Afghanistan, a new cabinet was formed in the country on Tuesday. In this episode, the Taliban’s new Minister of Education, Sheikh Molvi Noorullah Munir has said that PhD and master’s degrees will have no value now as mullahs regarded as the greatest of all don’t have these degrees.

PhD, Masters degree will have no value:

A video is surfacing on social media and the Minister can be heard questioning the relevance of higher education. “No Phd degree, master’s degree is valuable today. You see that the Mullahs and Taliban that are in power, have no Phd, MA, or even a high school degree, but are the greatest of all,” he said.

The Taliban announced a hardline interim government led by Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund on Tuesday. He has been appointed as the acting Prime Minister of the country. The newly formed government also unveiled the interior minister, who is said to be a designated global terrorist of the Haqqani Network.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, said that Mullah Hasan, the chief of the country’s decision-making body Rehbari Shura, will be the Acting Prime Minister, and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar will be his deputy.

Earlier, the Taliban had passed a new rule regarding women’s education in the country. The acting higher education minister had said that Afghan women will be allowed to study at university, however, there would be a ban on mixed classes under their rule. There will be no co-education in schools too. As per few reports, the Taliban have banned female voices on television and radio channels only in Kandahar.

On August 15, Afghanistan witnessed a major humanitarian crisis after the fall of the capital Kabul. Thousands of citizens tried to flee from the country. The disturbing images and videos of citizens attempting to flee were widely circulated on the internet.
