The Vaccine war shows the plight of scientists and the hardships they faced to bring out India’s own vaccine in a record time of seven months. The film has got mixed reviews on social media.

Samim Alam said the film is a documentary type slow burn politically influenced boring movie. He said the vaccine war looks C grade type movie which has poor colour grading, background music, editing and screenplay.

Shayanmp said the vaccine war is realistic, patriotic and thrilling.

Hemant Sanganee said the Vaccine War is a bold attempt bravely executed by Vivek Agnihotri. He gave the film 4 star rating. The film shows the pandemic woes and catastrophe and the virtual war to develop the vaccine and the challenges faced by the team of talented scientists and the ultimate achievement. Hemant said Vivek Agbihotri has delicately and nicely handled the subject of the film.

He said the film shows the sincere effort and some insightful and delightful performances from the leading actors like Anupam Kher and Nana Patekar as Dr Balram Nagpal DG of ICMR. Pallavi Joshi as Dr Priya Abraham director of NIV leads from the front and holds the fort with sensitivity and emotions. Raima Sen as Rohini Singh Dhulia shines and tries to put her best foot forward. Hemant said the film is a must watch cinema.

He said Vaccine War is not only an important film from the point of view of factual data and dossier. It brings forth with some astue research but also highlights the contribution of the Indian female scientists who put their whole force in achieving a target at the cost of their family life and responsibilities to serve the country and mankind at large

After the massive success of the controversial The Kashmir Files in 2022, film director Vivek Agnihotri is all set for his upcoming film The Vaccine War. The film is based on the struggle of bio-scientists who developed the Covid-19 vaccine during the pandemic. It showcases the pivotal role of Indian women scientists in the making of the Indian vaccines. 

Vivek Agnihotri claimed that he doesn’t make movies for commercial success and that he has no money after directing The Vaccine War. He said that he and his wife Pallavi Joshi invested all they earned through The Kashmir Files into The Vaccine War. While explaining why he chose to do that he said that his idea was to invest their money in the kinds of films that can help in building a new filmmaking tradition and a new independent cinema.

The Hate Story director says that there are many in the industry who earn more than him and would not invest in a film like this. He added that there are many people whose films do business of Rs 1000 crore, but all these producers, directors, superstars and Badshahs and kings of Bollywood, will never even invest 10 paisa in a film like this. 

Agnihotri talked about the significance of the film and stated that India has created the safest vaccine in the world and such a monopoly, is India’s biggest scientific achievement in history. He added that women scientists have created it. Speaking on women-empowerment, the filmmaker said that these people talk sweet about women empowerment but when it comes to the subject, they would say who watches women-oriented films these days or a film about vaccines. 

The Vaccine War starring Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, and Sapthami Gowda, will release in theatres on September 28, 2023.

Vivek Agnihotri hasn’t announced the star cast of the film yet, but the director recently revealed that Saptami Gowda will be seen playing an important role in The Vaccine War. However, now after the shooting is over, today the director has revealed the lead actor of of his next film.

Shortly before sharing a post on his Instagram handle, director Vivek Agnihotri has revealed that the lead actor in The Vaccine War will be none other than Bollywood veteran Nana Patekar. The director shared a picture with Nana Patekar from the shooting set, in which Vivek is seen sitting in the director’s chair with Nana Patekar sitting by his side. Sharing the post, Vivek wrote, ‘Official announcement: Three-time National Award winner, Nana Patekar, one of the most honest and powerful actors of our times, is leading the cast in The Vaccine War.

Talking about the same, Vivek Agnihotri said, ‘For The Vaccine War, the film’s lead actor needed to be powerful, believable. And when we were thinking of casting someone whose performance is impeccable, the only name that came to our mind was Nana Patekar. He is one of those rare actors who gives his best in any role and has never compromised on his performance with his acting.

He further said, ‘I am very happy that I chose Pallavi and Nana Patekar to work in this film. He has played more than one role in his career. Nana Patekar devoted himself to the script and the character, which is a very rare quality. We are very happy and elated that Nana Patekar is working on one of the most important films of our times. Bollywood veteran actor Anupam Kher is all set to join hands with director Vivek Agnihotri for his upcoming film The Vaccine War for the second time. The DDLJ earlier starred in The Kashmir Files which was a massive success at the box office.

Taking to Twitter, Anupam Kher shared his picture with the clapboard of The Vaccine War with further details about the shot. The 67-year-old captioned the photo as, Announcing my 534th film! The Vaccine War directed by Vivek Agnihotri. Fascinating and Inspirational! Jai Hind!

A few days ago, veteran actor Nana Patekar was roped in to play the lead role in this film. According to the reports, Patekar has a significant and well-fleshed-out character in this film. He has already started shooting for the film in Lucknow.

Recently, Vivek Agnihotri uploaded a picture of the film’s script with a clap from the muhurat shot on his social media. He wrote in the caption, GM. We live for new things. New happiness. After the commercial success of The Kashmir Files, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is back with another fictional film titled, The Vaccine War. Produced by his wife Pallavi Joshi, the film will revolve around India’s contributions in the race to produce a Covid-19 vaccine during the pandemic.

The Kashmir Files director shared a poster of his upcoming film on his 49th birthday that shows a vaccine vial with a title printed on it. Announcing his upcoming film, Vivek Agnihotri wrote Presenting ‘THE VACCINE WAR’ – an incredible true story of a war that you didn’t know India fought. And won with its science, courage & great Indian values.

He wrote in another tweet, For the first time ever an Indian film will release in 11 Indian languages – Hindi, English, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Urdu and Assamese. The film is slated to hit the theatres on Independence Day 2023.

A day before the title announcement, the filmmaker had earlier asked the fans to guess the title of the film by giving a fill-in-the-blank riddle.

A few days ago, he tweeted that when Covid came, India had nothing to fight. We were blackmailed and left alone to die by the superpowers of medical infra. But our scientists, without resources, fought back like their dharma. We made the fastest and the safest vaccine and created an infra every Indian can be proud of.

Pallavi Joshi in a statement said The Vaccine War is a tribute to the endless support and dedication of the medical fraternity and scientists. This film celebrates the triumph of our excellent bioscientists. The vaccine war is our tribute to their sacrifice, dedication, and hard work, she added.

The cast of the film is yet to be announced.
