Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivii is all set to hit the silver screens on September 10 but the film is facing a roadblock as three national multiplexes chains have decided to not accommodate the film. However, the actress is furious at multiplexes owners over the release and has alleged that less screens are being given to her film deliberately.

The 34-year-old actress shared a news article about the film on her Instagram story which talked about national multiplex chains in no mood to screen Thalaivii and captioned it, this is heartbreaking.

The actress, in another story shared a note for the multiplex owners. She wrote: No films are choosing theatres, very few and very brave like my producers @vishnuinduri @shaaileshrsingh are compromising on huge profits and letting go off exclusive streaming options only for the love of cinema.

In these times we must support each other and not bully or arm-twist; it’s our fundamental right to recover the cost of our film which we did, we may have two weeks window for Hindi version but for South, we have four weeks window yet multiplexes ganging up on us and stopping our release there as well, she wrote.

The Tanu Weds Manu actress said the system makes sure that no woman rises and then complains why don’t we have women superstars bringing audiences to the theatre on her own like men do.

Targeting PVR cinemas and INOX movies, Ranaut said these multiplexes chains say they are on a ventilator but even then bullying and harassment and ganging up seems their topmost priority. Simply explains why they are in this state in the first place. Hope better sense prevails, she added.

Thalaivii is a biopic of Tamil Nadu’s former chief minister and actor J Jayalalithaa, portrayed by Kangana Ranaut. The film revolves around the life of the iconic figure, capturing her journey from her time in the movies to becoming a politician. MGR was a mentor figure to Jayalalithaa, the role which Arvind Swami is portraying in the film.

Directed by AL Vijay, the film is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh under their banners Vibri Media, Karma Media, And Entertainment in association with Gothic Entertainment and Sprint films respectively.
