In a tragic turn of events, a thief, who stole several precious items from a Jain temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, has returned all the goods back.

He also wrote an apology letter, which is going viral on social media.

In the apology letter, the thief wrote, “Mere Se Jo Galti Hui Hai Use Maaf Karein. Mere ko Iss Samaan se Bahut Nuksaan Hua. Iss Lie Main Iss Saman Ko Vapas Rakh Raha Hoon. Jisse Bhi Mile Jain Mandir Mein De Dena (Forgive me for the mistake I have committed. I have suffered a lot of loss because of these items. So, I am returning all the stolen goods. Whomsoever finds this, hand it over to the Jain Temple.) ”

Notably, on Monday night, an unidentified thief stole nine silver umbrellas, one silver vase and three brass vases from the Jain temple in Lamta Bazar Chowk in Balaghat district. Four days later, on Friday, the thief left the goods near a water tap along with a written apology. After confiscating this apology letter, the police have started matching the hand writings with the residents.

According to the information, unidentified thieves stole precious items from Shantinath Digambar Jain temple. Paraswada SDOP Satish Sahu also inspected the theft. Fearful of continuous police patrolling in connection with the theft, the accused returned the stolen goods.

He kept them wrapped in a white colour, red-bordered-bag  and when a localite opened the bag on Friday, he found the stolen goods from inside it.

The information was then given to the people of Jain society and also to the police. Everyone gathered on receiving the information. The police have seized the stolen items after identifying the goods. The accused admitted to theft in the apology. It was written in the apology that ever since the theft of the temple’s goods, he suffered a lot of loss and faced many troubles. He identified himself as a resident of Lamta.
