A group of tourists at Uttarakhand’s Jim Corbett National Park had a narrow escape after a tiger—who was reportedly “provoked” by their driver—charged at them at the reserve. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media sites, following which the gypsy driver was arrested for allegedly provoking the wild cat.

According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday morning near the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand.

A video shared Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda on Friday, that has been widely viewed and shared on social media platforms, showed the tiger growling at the tourist vehicle before charging towards it as the car sped away.

The viral clip shows the ferocious beast growling as it comes out from behind the bushes while a tourist yells at it. The driver halts the vehicle to allow the tourists to take pictures of the wild cat even as the beast charges towards them.

As the tiger fiercely leaps towards them, the scared tourists are heard shouting as the driver reverses the car. The tiger, who seems irate at this point, follows the vehicle for a short distance before stopping and heading back in the woods as the vehicle speeds away.

Sharing a video of the man-beast encounter on Twitter, Nanda said that the driver of the tourist vehicle has been arrested for “provoking” the tiger and booked under the Wildlife Protection Act.

The clip went viral on social media with users stressing that tourists must respect the boundaries of wild animals and follow the laws while visiting sanctuaries and habitats.

Some users called for restricting the number of visitors to protect the endangered beasts while others batted for stringent punishment to those found violating rules during safaris and nature park visits.

Other users questioned why human visitors are allowed inside such sanctuaries in the first place if the motive of the government is to protect these animals.

He shared a clip on his verified Twitter handle, showing an excited tourist group in an open jeep confronted by a tiger, but luckily the animal who was seen in full mood of attacking ran from the spot.

Mehra also captioned his post where he wrote that sometimes, our ‘too much’ eagerness for ‘Tiger sighting’ is nothing but intrusion in their life.

After witnessing a wild angry cat, the group starts shouting at it and screaming at dreams to move the vehicle ASAP.
