The Covid-19 cases continue to rise for the 4th day. India reported 2,451 confirmed cases and 54 fatalities in the last 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry data, the number of active cases in the country increased to 14,241. In the past 24 hours, India reported 808 more active cases than the day before. Active cases make for 0.03 percent of total infections. The total tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 4,30,52,425 and the death toll climbed to 5,22,116.

India witnessed new cases highest in 35 days and new daily cases above 2,000 for the 3rd day. 11 states and Union Territories have reported 0 new cases while 18 states and Union Territories have recorded a rise in active cases. Out of 8 North-Eastern states. 6 states report 0 new cases.

Which states and Union Territories contribute to the highest number of cases?

The major contributors to Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours are Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. The infections in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar contribute to over 50 percent of UP’s tally. Active cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar stood at 467 while the total number of active infections in Uttar Pradesh was 856.

There were 965 new cases reported in Delhi, 367 in Haryana, and 332 in Kerala. Kerala had the highest number of fatalities in the last 24 hours, with 48 new deaths.  One fatality each in Delhi and Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Tripura.

4.49 lakh new tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity percentage for all India tests is 0.55 percent (up from 0.53 percent the day before). Mizoram has an 8.97 percent daily test positivity rate, Delhi has a 4.71 percent daily test positivity rate, and Haryana has a 3.95 percent daily test positivity rate.

Mizoram reported an 11.21 percent weekly test positivity rate, Delhi a 5.08 percent test positivity rate, and Haryana a 3.14 percent test positivity rate. There are 37 districts with a weekly test positivity rate of more than 5 percent.
