An advertisement for AU small finance bank starring Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani has caused a stir on the internet. The video has been subjected to calls for boycott as according to a section of social media users the advertisement hurt their religious sentiments.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also added to the conversation by tweeting about the ad.

In the ad video, Kiara Advani and Aamir Khan can be seen going home after their marriage, but contrary to Hindu traditions, instead of making the wife enter the home of the husband first, which is called Grah Pravesh, Aamir Khan can be seen entering into Kiara’s house, due to Kiara’s father being on a wheelchair, according to the advertisement video. In the video, Kiara can be seen thanking Aamir Khan for such a big step.

The portrayal of the Hindu traditions in the ad video has caused a stir on the internet as many users joined hands to raise boycott calls against the ad video. Even Kashmir Files director, Vivek Agnihotri, came forward to condemn the ad as the director wrote that he fails to understand when the banks have taken up the responsibility of changing social and religious traditions.

He further remarked and suggested that the AU small financial bank should do activism by reforming the corrupt banking system in India. The director further added that organizations end up doing such unnecessary things and then after getting boycotted, play the victim.

Other users also added to the conversation as one user wrote and remarked that the ad is actually hilarious and further asked why would a bank make such idiotic ads. The user further remarked that what these organisations even want to say and why is this even a banking ad.

Whereas another user also stated that they believe the ecosystem is doing such things deliberately and this is not an inadvertently.
