June 30 will be a big day for Maharashtra as Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will face a floor test tomorrow at 11 am. Recently, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has written to assembly secretary Rajendra Bhagwat and called for a special session at 11 am for Thackeray to prove his majority.

The rebel leader Eknath Shinde and other rebel MLAs will return from Guwahati to Mumbai to participate in the floor test.

The reports suggest that Eknath Shinde and some other Shiv Sena MLAs, who are staying at a five-star hotel in Assam went to a temple in Guwahati this morning where they told the reporters that they are returning to Mumbai tomorrow.

The Governor said in the letter that the leader of the opposition personally visited him. He was briefing about the political situation in the state and thereafter the leader of the opposition submitted a letter stating that Chief Minister has lost the majority in Vidhan Sabha.

Governor also said that the test of the majority will be telecast live and the proceedings will be recorded on camera by the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat through an independent agency.

Governor Koshyari also said that in order to ensure free and fair voting it shall be conducted by asking members to rise in their seats for the purpose of counting votes.

Eknath Shinde has claimed that he has the support of around 50 MLAs and 40 of them are from the Shiv Sena.

In the 287-member assembly, the majority mark stands at 144 and the ruling alliance of Shiv Sena, Congress and Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Pary has a total of 152 MLAs. If there are 40 MLAs missing from this data then the state government is likely to shrink to the minority without the support of 40 rebel MLAs.
