Uttar Pradesh on Sunday has witnessed the worst day since the novel coronavirus pandemic started. The State had reported 30,596 fresh Covid-19 cases with 129 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the health ministry, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Kanpur Nagar are the worst-hit districts by the coronavirus in the UP with 1,13,152 cases this month.

Currently, Prayagraj witnessing 15,761 active covid cases, Lucknow has 47,700 active covid-19 cases,  Varanasi has 14,915 cases, and Kanpur Nagar 11,446 covid cases. These districts have also reported more than 35 percent of the deaths in the last few days.

Health Ministry on Sunday said, 22 patients, succumbed to the respiratory disease in Lucknow  followed by 15 in Prayagraj, 10 in Varanasi and eight in Kanpur Nagar

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said, currently 50 percent of the covid-19 patients are in home isolation and most of the remaining are receiving treatment in government hospitals or private medical colleges.

Prasad said the state government is working hard to fight against covid-19 in the state. He said the state government is working to increase the number of Covid beds. He said all the major districts on Sunday ordered to add at least 200 beds in their health facilities as soon as possible.

The state information department said ICU capacity and isolation beds for coronavirus patients would be doubled immediately in the worst-hit districts by a coronavirus in the State.

Reports said UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked top officials to ensure the availability of oxygen in line in the next 15 days. He asked hospitals to maintain at least a minimum of 36 hours of oxygen backup all the time.

According to the health ministry, India has reported 2,73,810 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest single-day spike so far. 1,619 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
