On this day, the fasting person should donate food along with a pitcher filled with water to the needy. Donating gold is also considered to be of great importance on this day. The fast observer should wake up early in the morning on a full moon day. Then the faster should bath and be clean.

After that, the fast observer will have to take Sankalp (pledge), and Lord Vishnu should be worshipped. During the night, the full moon should be worshiped with lamps, incense, flowers, food, jaggery, etc. and water should be offered. Thereafter, a pot filled with water should be donated to a deserving brahmin. One should take food himself only after providing food to a Brahmin or any needy person. Then, donate gold.
