[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Just a day before Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, a major controversy has erupted within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the son of an AAP candidate today (Saturday, May 11) claimed that his father paid AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a sum of Rs 6 crores to get a ticket.

Aam Aadmi Party’s West Delhi candidate Balbir Singh Jakhar’s son Uday Jakhar made controversial claims that his father had paid Kejriwal the amount for the ticket.

“He had told me that he had paid Kejriwal Rs 6 crores and I had warned him to not do such a thing and align with a tukde-tukde gang. The bribe was one of the problems,” Uday told the media.

He continued his attack on Kejriwal and said that the Delhi CM portrays a ‘clean image’ and said that it is an allegation against him.

“A person who has portrayed a clean imgae, Mr Arvind Kejriwal, who stands with Anna Hazare, bringer of hope for India and New Delhi, this is an allegation on him…that he has sold out West Delhi for Rs 6 crore,” he said.

While expressing fear that he might be expelled from his family, Uday accused his father of not helping out with finances for his education but making sure he spent crores of rupees to bail out 1984 anti-Sikh riots accused Sajjan Kumar and “pay Kejriwal” for a Lok Sabha ticket.

“An amateur politician getting a ticket was surprising at first; I brought it upon my conscience to question this. When I asked my father for assistance to pay for my education, he was unable to do so. He resisted and said he was going to use the money for his own political benefit,” he claimed.

Balbir Jakhar later publicly clarified his stand and said that he does not stay with his estranged son ever since his divorce with his wife. He added that he speaks to his son rarely and has not spoken to him anything about his candidature.

“I condemn the allegations. I have never discussed with my son anything about my candidature. I speak to him very rarely. He stays at his maternal parents’ home from the time of his birth and I divorced my wife in 2009. She stayed with me for only 6-7 months. His custody was granted to my wife after the divorce,” he said, news agency ANI reported.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
