What is Halal?

Halal and Haram are two categories of food. Halal is an Arabic word that means permissible or lawful whereas Haram is an Arabic term that means prohibited or forbidden.

Halal is a term that refers to Islam and its dietary restrictions, and it refers to meat that has been processed and prepared in accordance with the laws. Haram means products that are not allowed in Islam. These products are haram for the followers of this religion.

What is Halal certification and why do companies get their products halal-certified?

Halal certification is a must in Islamic countries. This certificate is given by the government which marks the food or products permissible for the followers of Islam. In India, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) certification can be seen on almost all processed foods but this authority doesn’t give halal certification in the country. Companies are obtaining halal certification for their products in order to export them to Islamic countries.

Which products are halal-certified?

Cosmetics and pharmaceuticals use animal by-products and which is why they require halal certification. For example, alcohol is found in perfumes, pig fat is present in lipsticks and lip balms, and cosmetic items use pig, chicken, goat, and other animal by-products, all of which are considered haram by Islamic law. As a result, halal-certified cosmetics and pharmaceuticals merely signify that they do not contain anything that is forbidden to Muslims.

What is Halal certification?

Halal certification is issued by the government in several Islamic nations. Many private companies in India provide halal certification, which certifies that the food or items are suitable for Muslims. Because cosmetics and pharmaceuticals include animal by-products, they require halal certification.

Alcohol is present in perfumes, pig fat is used in lipsticks and lip balms, and cosmetic items use pig, chicken, goat, and other animal by-products, all of which are considered haram by Islamic law. As a result, halal-certified cosmetics and pharmaceuticals merely signify that they do not include any ingredients that are forbidden to Muslims.

Companies are securing halal certification for their products so that they can be exported to Islamic countries.

The above given Himalaya post is being widely circulated on the internet. APN News doesn’t vouch for the veracity of the claim mentioned in the above post.
