Matchday 3 of the Premier League shocked a lot of fans as the matches this season continue to be unpredictable. Saturday and Sunday saw Manchester City vs Newcastle United, West Ham vs Brighton, Leeds United vs Chelsea, Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa, Fulham vs Brentford, Leicester City vs Southampton, Arsenal vs Bournemouth, Tottenham vs Wolves, Everton vs Nottingham Forest fixtures.

On Saturday, Tottenham was able to pull through against Wolves with the help of their captain, Harry Kane, finding himself on the scoresheet, making him the highest scorer in the Premier League overtaking Sergio Kun Aguero’s 184 goals. Leicester City bit the dust as Southampton’s Che Adams continued to ask questions of the defence, and answering by hitting the net twice. Fulham and Brentford clashed head to head and made it a competitive match; Brentford scored twice, Fulham fought back and scored the winner.

Arsenal kept their confidence high as the Gunners were able to ease past Bournemouth, with Jesus and Odegaard continuing their spell in the campaign. Everton and Nottignham Forest had to settle for a draw as both sides saw some action at the later end of the second quarter which led to a 1-1 draw. Crystal Palace with the help of Wilfred Zaha haunted Aston Villa’s defence and powered past the Midland side 3-1.

On Sunday, West Ham disappointed their fans as Brighton won and converted a penalty in the 22nd minute and Leandro Trossard added the lead in the 66th minute. Leeds United shocked Chelsea with 3 goals, as the first goal came from a major blunder by Chelsea’s French goalkeeper Benjamin Mendy. Leeds added to the tally in the 37th and 69th minute subsequently.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City started off on a good note with an early goal by Ilkay Gundogan in the 5th minute, but St James Park, the home of Newcastle United, had suprises ahead. The Saudi PIF owned team powered to 3 goals, City came back with Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva keeping the pressure up for the champions. The final score was 3-3.
