Winter season is here and so are the skin problems that come along with them, and unlike Jon Snow, we know, how to deal with winters as well as the winter skin problems. And, if you think that it is going to burn a hole in your pocket, then we are here for your help. Of course, we aren’t going to help you get up from the bed but we can give you some tips on how to treat your skin well this winter season.

APN News got in touch with some skincare professionals and they gave some of the top-notch tips to have smooth and flawless skin this winter.

Here are some tips to have smooth and flawless skin this winter:

Make Ceramides your best friends!

APN news was in an interview with Dr Sachin Maurya, a Delhi-based dermatologist with 13 years of experience. Dr Maurya said, “hydrated skin should be a priority”. He explained that the cold weather brings poor hydration with it. On being asked the basic trick to have healthy skin during winter, his answer was Ceramides. Well now, it is safe to say that ceramides are important. Ceramides lock moisture into the skin. Dr Maurya recommends moisturizers with a high concentration of ceramides.

Getting into detail, Dr Maurya also told us that no specific skin types are prone to damage due to winter. However, those with genetic allergies, as well as, aged people might have to cater to their skin with the right products.

Use the right products

It is not an uncommon fact that everyone has different skin types, so then how can everyone use the same products? That is the reason why there are a number of products in the market and thus for that, we need to use the products that best suits our skin type. Apart from this, you also need to see if those products are alcohol and fragrance-free.

Sunscreen is a must!

Not just during winters, SPF is essential for all seasons. Your skin is exposed to UVB rays year-round. Do not forget to use a sunscreen of broad-spectrum SPF and carry it with you all the time, and also do not forget to thank us later.

Keep hydrating yourself

Winter comes with boons and banes. Boons being the delightful sunbathing hours and the cuddly cold weather. And the biggest boon of all- Dehydration. Dry skin can cause itching, cracking and breaking. Thus, to avoid any damage to your skin, keep yourself hydrated. Drink, eat and moisturize the right amount!

Heaters- Skin moisture depleters!

Winter season is already harsh on your skin. Sitting in front of heaters is indeed heart (and body, obviously) warming. However, they drop the moisture present in the air that causes dryness. Be it dry replies or dryness-in-skin-on-rise, both are equally distressing.

Exfoliate in the limit, and you are set!

In winter, cleaning and moisturizing are simply not enough, that is the reason why there is exfoliation, and it does wonders. It unclogs pores, makes your skin tone even and even increases the effectiveness of other skincare products on your skin. You can exfoliate or scrub your skin once or twice a week. You can refer to a dermatologist and buy an exfoliator that compliments your skin.

Stick to a skin routine

Come up with a skin routine and make it as important as eating. Stick to this routine religiously with the right products. Do not forget to use either cold or lukewarm water. Avoid hot showers as they can make your skin dry.

A happy skincare routine will result in a happy you.

Happy Winter!
