World Hindi Day, also known as Vishwa Hindi Diwas, is marked on 10 January every year to raise awareness of Hindi as an international language. Indian embassies globally particularly mark the day. History

The first speech in Hindi was made in the UN General Assembly in 1949. In 2006, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the then prime minister of India, decided to mark the occasion and thus he decided to observe this day as Vishwa Hindi Diwas. Ever since, January 10 has been celebrated globally as World Hindi Day.
