Bollywood celebrities like Bhumi Pednkekar, Milind Soman, and others mistakenly congratulated Indian wrestler Priya Malik, who won a gold medal at the ongoing World Cadet Wrestling Championship, for Olympics Games victory which is underway in Tokyo Japan. 

Taking to her Instagram story, Pednekar shared Malik’s photo and wrote, Baby Gold Gold Gold Gold Priya Malik with the hashtags Tokyo Olympics. However, after realizing her mistake, she later deleted the post.

Similarly, model-actor Milind Soman tweeted, Thank you, Priya Malik. Won gold in Tokyo Olympics.’ Later, the actor was trolled for his erroneous congratulations. While one user wrote, “Have not won in Olympics, don’t expect this from you,” another wrote, “It is won in the wrestling championship, not the Olympics.’ 

On the other hand TV actor Vatsal Seth also made the same mistake. He tweeted Congratulations Priya Malik, won the gold medal. Later, he corrected and wrote, “ Not in the Olympics but we are still proud of you.”

Wrestler Malik has recently clinched the gold in the women’s 73 kg weight category by getting the better of Belarus wrestler Kseniya Patapovich 5-0 in the final at the world event in Hungary. Her victory comes a day after the champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu had clinched silver in the Women’s 49kg category in Tokyo Olympics.

However, Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sara Ali Khan were among who rightly congratulated Priya for her gold medal at the World Championships.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Pednekar will be seen next alongside Rajkummar Rao in the Badhaai Ho sequel Badhaai Do. She will also be featuring in Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan.
