Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has a massive fan following all over the country. Recently, the Mahant of the Gorakhnath Mathh has now joined the list of celebrities and political leaders who have a temple made in their honour.

The Yogi-temple is located on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway in Maurya Ka Purwa village near Bharat Kund. This place is believed to be ruled by King Bharata when his brother Lord Rama was in exile. The temple is 25 km away from the famous Ram Janbhoomi temple site.

The temple has an idol of Yogi Adityanath which shows him in his customary saffron attire with a bow and arrow in his hands. Devotees offer prayers at the temple every evening. There have also been prayers and hymns made for worship, specifically devoted to CM Yogi.

The temple has been built by a 32-year-old Prabhakar Maurya. He describes himself as Yogi Pracharak (Yogi publicist) and YouTuber who has created multiple songs for the party. Two sculptors, one from Rajasthan and the other from Barabanki were reportedly roped in to create the idol.

Talking about the reason for constructing a temple for UP CM Yogi, Maurya said we have built a temple for the one who has built the temple of Ram for us. He deserves a temple of his own, he added.

This is not the first time a temple has been built for a political leader. A group of BJP supporters built a temple dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a village near Gujarat’s Rajkot in 2015.

Congress leaders have also built a temple for party president Sonia Gandhi in Telangana to show their love and devotion. There has been a temple dedicated to former Tamil Nadu chief minister and cine superstar MG Ramachandran (MGR) in Chennai.
