Men’s javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, who is currently the reigning Olympic, World, and Asian champion, was named as Laureus Ambassador today. He is devoted to supporting Laureus Sport for Good, a global foundation that funds over 300 programmes that use sport to combat discrimination and inequality against young people worldwide.

His connection to Laureus dates back to 2022, when he received a nomination for the Laureus World Sports Awards’ Breakthrough of the Year category, which followed his Olympic gold medal—the first ever won by an Indian track and field athlete—in Tokyo.

After researching Laureus, Neeraj became interested in the athlete-led organisation that honours the transformative potential of sport.

Neeraj won gold at the World Championships and the Asian Games earlier this month, propelling him to the top of the world rankings this year. In his native nation, he has become extremely popular because to his gold medal run. His winning throw in Tokyo occurred on August 7, which is now recognised as National Javelin Day. He is in high demand for endorsement deals and media appearances.

In the Asian Games T20I tournament, Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee broke the record of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. He defeated Mongolia by scoring 314/3 in 20 runs but also broke Afghanistan’s previous score.

Nepal’s batters broke three different world records in a record-breaking performance. While other batters were able to score runs with ease, Dipendra Singh stood out the most. He got six straight fifties en route to the fastest T20I fifty in international cricket.

Dipendra Singh Airee gave a first-class performance by scoring the fastest-ever T201 fifty in just 9 balls. The record was previously held by India’s very own cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, with 12 balls against England during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Nepal went on to score more than 300 runs in the match, making history as the first team to reach 314/3 in 20 overs.

Left-handed batsman Kushal Malla, 19, set a record for the quickest T20I century by reaching the triple-digit mark in just 34 balls. In the process, he broke the joint record held by Rohit Sharma and David Miller. Before that, the Indian and South African players had combined for 50 runs in 35 balls.

When Nepal faced Mongolia, who chose to field, Malla batted at No. 3, smashing 12 sixes and eight fours to remain unbeaten on 137 and lead Nepal to the highest-ever T20I score of 314 for 3.

All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, who came at no.5, rewrote the record books by smashing a nine-ball fifty that broke Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old mark. Yuvraj had also hit Stuart Broad for six straight sixes during the inning.

The social media exploded with praise for Dipendra’s bravery. The batter had to put in a tremendous amount of effort to accomplish what he did at the Asian Games, even though it was against the underdog Mongolia.

The Gurugram police detained the female caretaker of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s brother for attempting to extort money from the former cricketer’s mother Shabnam Singh. It’s a given that the female caretaker threatened to file a fake report against the family.

The family complaint about Hema Kaushik in 2022 to take care of the former Indian cricketer brother Zorwar Singh, who endured depression for a number of years, according to the complaint made by Yuvraj Singh’s mother Shabnam Singh.

According to Shabnam Singh, Hema Kaushik, the caretaker, started allegedly contacting and texting her family in May 2023, threatening them, and defaming their name by implicating them in a bogus case. She also allegedly asked that the family pay her Rs. 40 lakhs.

After receiving Rs 5 lakh from Yuvraj Singh’s mother, Gurugram police captured the suspect in response to the complaint.

According to the police complaint, the woman was fired shortly after 20 days for not being professional.

The accused woman is being questioned, according to DCP (East) Nitish Aggarwal.

Gautam Gambhir slammed ‘Hero worship’ in Indian cricket, saying that the obsession with stars like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni was the primary reason why Indian cricket was individual oriented rather than being team oriented.

He added the media should focus on other performers as well. Apparently talking about MS Dhoni, he said that one individual and his PR team made him the Hero of the 2007 and 2011 world cup. But in reality it was Yuvraj Singh who took India to the World Cup Finals in 2007 and 2011. He said Yuvraj Singh was the man of the tournament in both the tournaments.

He expressed that it was highly unfortunate that whenever people talked about the 2007 and 2011 world cup they do not take Yuvraj Singh’s name. He added that no one underrated the performance, it was all PR and marketing. He said that the people had been told, who won them the 2007 and 2011 world cup, but in reality it was the team effort and not the individual effort that mattered.

He further added that no individual can win a big tournament. He asserted that the truth is India is not a team obsessed country but  an individual obsessed country. He said in India individuals are bigger than teams. He also cited the example of other nations like Australia, New Zealand and England where the team was bigger than individuals. He said all the stake holders from the broadcaster to the media and everyone had been reduced to a PR agency.

He claimed that if the broadcaster did not give credit to a player then he would always be underrated. He said that this was the primary reason why India had not won an ICC trophy a long time.  He further claimed that this hero worship dates back to 1983 when Kapil Dev won the World Cup for India.

After 2-1 defeat in 3-match Test series, India on Wednesday suffered their first loss in the first ODI of 3-match series against South Africa at Boland Park in Paarl.

South Africa defeated India by 31 runs to take 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI. The team restricted the visitors for 265/8 in 50 overs while defending 297.

Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh has recently been in headlines following his pro-Khalistan views. Yograj Singh led a hefty rally at Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, to seek the release of Khalistanis who had been imprisoned.

The Jagtar Singh Hawara Committee led a huge number of religious, as well as social organisations, into marching from Gurudwara Jyoti Sarup Sahib in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The aim behind this massive rally was to seek the release of all Khalistani prisoners who are currently lodged in jails in Punjab, as well as many different parts of the country. Yograj Singh was a part of this rally.

A march was organised with the purpose to settle the pending cases of release of the imprisoned Sanga. The march began from the district of Fatehgarh Sahib. The affair was followed by an exhibition that showed photographs of Khalistanis who are currently imprisoned in jail.

The Khalistan movement is a Sikh separatist movement which aims towards the formation of a Sikh homeland separate from India and Pakistan. From the 1980s until the mid-1990s, the movement was characterised by violence, militancy, and terrorism, before Kanwar Pal Singh Gill defeated the movement in the Indian Punjab.

Yograj Singh is a former Indian cricketer and actor. He has appeared in various Bollywood films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Singh is Bling.

In recent controversy regarding the Khalistan movement, protesters blocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy for 20 minutes, due to which, his Ferozepur rally was called off. Followed by that, a video of some Sikh bikers went viral. In this video, the bikers were raising Khalistan Zindabad slogans. It was alleged that this procession took place around the same place and same day when PM Modi’s convoy was stopped by protestors.

It was later revealed that the video was not related to the said protest. The video was from December 26, 2021, from a bike march that took place in the remembrance of Chhote Sahibzade in Sirhind, Punjab.
