The food apps Zomato and Swiggy faced a brief outage on Wednesday afternoon. As both the apps went down at the peak lunch hour time, annoyed users started complaining on Twitter. Replying to them, both Zomato and Swiggy said that they were facing some glitch due to which the app was down.

Notably, both of the food apps are now up and running and the users can easily place orders there.

What caused the outage of Swiggy and Zomato?

Both of the apps replied to their annoyed customers and said that they were facing some glitches. Zomato said that they are facing a temporary glitch, They further said that the users must be assured that their team is working on this and the app will be up and running soon.

On the other hand, Swiggy wrote that they apologise for the long delay they are currently facing due to a technical glitch. This is not usual with them and their best minds are working on it to resolve it at the earliest. Please bear with them.

The Downdetector website reported that the most reported problem was on the Zomato app as it was 85 per cent, 12 per cent on the website and while logging in, 3 per cent of people faced the issue. The problem took place around 2-2.30 pm and was resolved around 2.40 pm.

Recently, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Monday said that they had ordered an investigation of the apps offered by both companies to verify if they were neutral. This order came months after the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) asked the CCI to investigate the companies for breaching platform neutrality by providing priority to exclusive contractors.
