In a strongly worded statement, India hit out at Pakistan in United Nations for its nefarious political agenda on Monday. The First Secretary in India’s Permanent Mission to the UN Ashish Sharma said Pakistan is using coronavirus pandemic to enhance support to cross-border terrorism and has resorted to unbridled hate speech to try and create divisions among India\u2019s religious communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the dialogue with Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, Ashish Sharma said that Pakistan not only targets one community in India through its hate speech but it also speaks against organisations, individuals and even against high profile political leaders. Sharma said while the world has come to a standstill due to the pandemic, Pakistan has only taken advantage of the fatal disease and has enhanced support to cross-border terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sharma said that Pakistan is trying to divide religious communities in our country but fortunately, Pakistan’s idea of provocation is falling on deaf years since India has had a tradition of pluralism and co-existence where there is religious harmony under a democratic framework. India called on Pakistan to exercise co-existence in their own country and avoid viloence, discrimination, and intolerence against their own people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sharma said the world today is confronted not only by the challenge of tackling the Covid-19 pandemic, but also the challenge of infodemic, which in many cases has been responsible for rise in hate speech and seeding hatred within communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India called on Pakistan to practice co-existence in their own country and eschew all sectarian violence, discrimination and intolerance against their own people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
