LJP gets Hindi spellings of Mahatma Gandhi, Karpoori Thakur wrong on website

By Prerna Ahuja

Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan, who is expecting to play kingmaker, once results are declared in Bihar has left no stone unturned to appeal to the voters during campaigning. He launched attacks on incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United), tried his best to woo BJP voters, made huge promises in the party vision document and tweeted in Hindi for a better connect. Going out of the way to grab the attention of voters from all sections of society instead of remaining stuck only with the Paswan votebank, the LJP has put up pictures of Sita, Lord Mahavir, Buddha, Sher Shah Suri and Dr BR Ambedkar among others. However, what the party seems to have missed is a closer look at the Hindi spellings for the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and iconic former chief minister Karpoori Thakur. Both names of the leaders are written wrong in Hindi, which is a terrible faux pas considering the stature of the late visionaries, and we expected better from the party that draws inspiration from these leaders.
