US first lady Melania Trump wants Donald Trump to concede defeat to President-elect Joe Biden. Melania is the latest to join Trump’s inner circle to ask him so, reports said. Melania has not publicly commented on the election defeat but has privately said that it is time for Trump to accept his defeat, CNN reported. Trump’s ongoing refusal to accept the election results have made his inner circle split over opinions. His adult sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr., have urged allies to continue pressing on and have also pushed Republican Party members and supporters to publicly reject the results.

Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner had approached him earlier to concede.

The move came after Trump said that Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner and that the race is far from over.

The Hill reported that Trump promised to fight the results in court. He claimed that some networks were assisting the Democrats to falsely pose as the winner.

Biden defeated Trump in a closely contested election where a victory in the state of Pennsylvania took President-elect Joe Biden past the Electoral College threshold of 270 votes. In his third attempt at the White House, Biden, a four-decade Washington figure as a Senator and then a vice president, received more than 74 million votes, 4 million more than Trump, and more than any other presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is pushing his attorneys to pursue legal challenges that would delay formal certification of the results. He has publicly denied his defeat after the results of the election.

Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller in a tweet Sunday morning denied that Kushner has approached Trump to concede defeat. He said this story is not true. Jared has advised Trump to pursue all available legal remedies to ensure accuracy.

This story is not true.
