Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday held a mega roadshow in Malkajgiri area of Hyderabad ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election due on December 1. After the Bihar Assembly election, the BJP has sent Yogi Adityanath to Hyderabad as star campaigner for the city’s municipal elections. The BJP is goung gung-ho into the campiagn in what it sees as an attempt to outdo the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the TRS which has been in power in Telangana ever since the state was carved out of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. It is in this context that the BJP spots a chance to win the civic polls and then hopefully aim at ruling Telangana in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yogi Adityanath campaigned with BJP state chief and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay atop a bus in Jeedimetla area of Hyderabad. Listing the party\u2019s work, he said Union Home Minister Amit Shah repealed Article 370 which gave full freedom to the people of Hyderabad and Telangana to purchase land in Jammu and Kashmir under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The roadshow included dancers from the cultural traditions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well as Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan and UP. Adityanath\u2019s roadshow has been followed by a public meeting at Lal Darwaza in the Old City of Hyderabad, the stronghold of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After winning the Assembly bypoll seat of Dubbaka earlier this month, the BJP has set to win this election as a chance to carve out a space for itself here. In the last GHMC election, the TRS won 99 seats while its ally the AIMIM won 44, with the remaining seven seats won by other parties and Independents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The BJPs poll manifesto, released on Thursday by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, had promised free Covid vaccine as well as free Covid testing if the BJP won the elections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
