Following a meeting with G23 leaders, the Congress has started reshuffle in four states – Telangana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Telangana Congress President Uttam Kumar Reddy and Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda have put their papers taking responsibility of party’s poor performance in Hyderabad local polls and Gujarat by-polls. respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the party interim president Sonia Gandhi appointed All-India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries for poll-bound Assam and Kerala. They will assist the general secretaries of two states \u2014 Jitendra Singh for Assam and Tariq Anwar in Kerala. Both the states, where the Congress is the main opposition party, are set to go to polls next year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier on Saturday, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the Congress dissidents in the first of a series of meetings to be held over the next 10 days. The meeting was the first step taken by the grand old party to resolve the internal feud, which has been going on for several months now. Following the meeting, Rahul Gandhi indicated that he might be returning as party chief soon saying he is ready to work for the party as all desire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the G23 leaders stayed adamant on their demand that the elections should be held for every post in the party right from top to bottom. They added that all the issues raised by them in the letter should be addressed at the earliest. Following the five-hour marathon meeting, the party agreed to hold a Chintan Shivir where all the issues could be discussed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in August, a group of 23 leaders had written to Sonia Gandhi saying they wanted a visible leadership where the emphasis is on collective decision making. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
