In recognition of his steadfast leadership and vision that has accelerated India\u2019s emergence as a global power, and exemplary contribution to the elevated India-US partnership, the prestigious award was presented to PM Modi, said the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1942, the Legion of Merit, one of the highest military medals, is awarded to the members of US military, foreign military and political figures for their exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of services and achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beside PM Modi, the prestigious award was&nbsp; presented to Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan for his leadership and vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was also honoured with the award for his leadership in conveying global challenges and promoting collective security.
