The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a notice to the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video, seeking explanation on complaints that Hindu gods and goddesses have been ridiculed in web series, Tandav. A criminal case has also been filed by Uttar Pradesh police against the makers and streaming service over alleged hurting of Hindu sentiments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The director, producer and writer of the Saif Ali Khan starrer Tandav and Amazon’s head of India Original Content have been accused in the case of promoting religious enmity and defiling a place of worship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The complaint stated that the first episode of the web series showed people dressed up in a very disrespectful manner to represent Hindu Gods and goddesses.They have been shown to speak in a very uncalled for language that hurts religious sentiments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are conversations that lead to caste conflict, the character of the person occupying the high post of Prime Minister has been shown in a very indecent manner. The series also depicted lower and higher castes and scenes that insult women, read the complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
