The two Indian clerics associated with the renowned Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin, who were earlier reported as missing, are in the custody of Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan for alleged links to the outlawed Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of Altaf Hussain. This was disclosed by official sources in Islamabad on March 18 morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

Press Trust of India, in a tweet, has also confirmed their custody with spy agency. Quoting official sources in Islamabad, PTI said the two clerics were shifted to some undisclosed location.<\/span>\"\"<\/a>Sajjadanasheen <\/em>or the chief priest of the revered Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin, Syed Asif Nizami, and his nephew Nazim Nizami were offloaded from the Karachi-bound flight on March 14 at Lahore airport. However, there were some conflicting reports on how and where they were arrested.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, there was a report in an Urdu daily, Inquilab<\/em>, that the two Indian clerics were detained by Pakistan authorities for violation of visa regulations. Quoting some Pakistani news channel, the report further said that they were detained after constant surveillance of their activities in that country. India and Pakistan issue visas to each other\u2019s citizens for a limited number of cities and mention the same on passports.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, minister for external affairs Sushma Swaraj has written several tweets even as the situation unfolded. She said in her latest tweet that she was in constant touch with Indian High Commission in Islamabad and authorities in that country.\u00a0 In a late night tweet, the minister said that Nizami\u2019s relatives in Karachi seem to be under pressure not to talk to Indian officials.\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The 80-year-old Asif Nizami and his nephew had gone to Pakistan on March 8 to visit religious places and see their relatives. They arrived in Lahore on March 13 and visited the shrine of Sufi Baba Farid Gang in Pakpattan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to some reports, Nizami was detained at Lahore airport while Nazim Ali was allowed to depart for Karachi. But he never came out of Karachi airport area.
