The Sena said that party will stand in solidarity with the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calling Mamata, a Bengal tigress, senior Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, said it will not be contesting what appears to be a \u2018Didi Vs All\u2019 fight this time. Raut tweeted that at the moment, it appears to be a Didi vs All fight. In his tweet, he wrote that a lot of people are curious to know whether Shivsena is contesting West Bengal Polls or not? So here\u2019s the update after discussions with Party President Uddhav Thackeray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although, Sena\u2019s political presence in West Bengal is very limited, some regional parties, such as Bihar\u2019s Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Samajwadi Party of Uttar Pradesh, have already backed Banerjee and decided to contest a few seats as her ally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past few years, the Sena has contested Lok Sabha elections, assembly polls and a few local polls in West Bengal. In 2016 assembly polls, the Sena has fielded 21 candidates who have received 49,218 votes or 1.25% of the vote share. It would have made no difference if it contested the polls. The fight is essentially between the TMC and the BJP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Shiv Sena, however, made a complete U-turn after announcing on January 17 that it would contest the polls.
