Amitabh Bachchan on Friday was honoured with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) award by filmmakers Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese via a virtual ceremony. The veteran actor is the first actor in the history of Indian cinema to receive this award for his contribution in preserving India\u2019s film heritage. Bachchan’s name for the award was nominated by filmmaker, film archivist and restorer Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, who is also the founder of Film Heritage Foundation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scorsese and Nolan are the previous recipients of the award. In the ceremony, Nolan remembered the meeting with Bachchan a few years ago and said he had the privilege of meeting the living legend a few years ago. Praising Bachchan for his contribution in Indian cinema, the filmmaker said that Bachchan should realise the importance of everything he has done for the preservation of India\u2019s film heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Scorsese said the organisation could not have chosen a more deserving candidate for the award. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was live-streamed on the YouTube channel of the Film Heritage Foundation and was presided over by International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) secretary-general Michael Loebenstein and president Frederic Maire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
