Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, on Monday donated $50,000 to the PM Cares Fund to purchase oxygen supplies for Indian hospitals as the country faces a surge of Covid-19 cases. He also urged colleagues in the IPL to make contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At a time when his compatriots are getting dodgy about the Covid-19 situation in the country, Pat Cummins has come forward and donated 50,000 USD to \u2018PM Cares\u2019 Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cummins said in his post that India is a country which he has come to love dearly over the years and the people here are some of the warmest and kindest he has ever met. Cummins said many are suffering so much at this time saddens him, greatly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cummins shared a long post on Twitter, in which he said earlier a few foreigners left the bio-bubble as anxiety sky-rocketed with the increase in India\u2019s Covid numbers. The country is reporting 3 lakh cases a day and this has caused a lot of Australians to rethink their decision to play in the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The KKR pacer is hopeful that the amount he has donated will make a difference to someone amid the rising Covid-19 cases in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cummins said at times like this it is easy to feel helpless. I’ve certainly felt that of late. But I hope by making this public appeal we can all channel our emotions into action that will bring light into people’s lives. He said his donation isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but hope it will make a difference to someone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This comes after several Australian cricketers opted out of the ongoing IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday confirmed that two Australian players -Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson will be heading back for personal reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
