Samir Ghosh, an independent candidate contesting the ongoing assembly polls in West Bengal from the Baisnabnagar in Malda district has died on Monday night after tested covid positive. Ghosh is one of the fourth candidates from assembly polls in WB that has died due to the coronavirus infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pradip Nandi, a Revolutionary Socialist Party candidate from Jangipur in Murshidabad is one of the candidates who have lost the battle against covid-19 and passed away on April 16, Congress’s Rezaul Haque, who was contesting from the same district died due to covid-19 on April 15, and Kajal Sinha, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) nominee from Khardaha in North 24 Parganas died due to coronavirus on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, Union Minister and a two-time MP from Asansol, Babul Supriyo who is also contesting the elections from Tollygunge assembly seat has tested covid positive. Supriyo has said he has been tested covid positive from the second time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the health ministry on Tusday, West Bengal has 95,000 active cases. The state had reported 16,000 infections and 68 deaths on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health Ministry data said, the India has reported over 3.52 lakh fresh coronavirus cases in the 24 hours ending 8 am Monday, taking the country\u2019s total infections to over 1.73 crore. With 2,812 new fatalities, the death toll is now over 1.95 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health department on Sunday said, Karnataka has recorded another biggest single day surge with 34,804 fresh coronavirus 19 cases in the state, taking the total caseload to 13.39 lakh, while 143 related fatalities pushed the toll to 14,426.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Due to sudden surge of coronavirus cases in cases, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has ordered a lockdown across the state from April 27 at 9 pm till May 9. Yediyurappa said essentials services will remain open from 6 am to 10 am every day. No public transport will be available, Yediyurappa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
