As the unprecedented second wave of Covid-19 pandemic continues wreak havoc in India, the health care officials are working round the clock to treat Covid-19 patients. Around 80 doctors at Delhi’s Saroj hospital have tested positive for Covid-19 so far. However, a senior surgeon who worked at the facility for nearly three decades has succumbed to the disease. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the 80 doctors who have contracted coronavirus, 12 are now admitted to the hospital for treatment while the rest of the doctors who are Covid positive are in home quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr AK Rawat, a senior surgeon at the hospital, has succumbed to the deadly virus. According to The Times of India report, Dr AK Rawat had served the Saroj Hospital for 27 years and his death dealt a severe blow to the already strained staff. The report further states that over 300 doctors and other healthcare officials across Delhi hospitals have tested positive for Covid-19 so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the Covid outbreak at Saroj Hospital, all out-patient departments (OPDs) have been closed for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday, a 26-year-old doctor, Anas Mujahid, at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) died of Covid-19 complications within hours of testing positive for the infection. He had completed his internship after MBBS in January. The GTB hospital was converted into a designated Covid-19 hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
