Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday has booked a heart specialist doctor, his younger brother and seven hospital employees in Muzaffarnagar for opening fire in the air and assaulting the attendants of a Covid-19 patient who died on Friday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Area police said the patient’s attendants were attacked when they were trying to find about the line of treatment given to the deceased at the Saini Heart Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Attendants said the area police had initially refused to lodge an FIR against heart specialist doctor Devendra Saini, his brother, Manish, and the others hospital employees who were involved in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police had booked the attendants for creating a ruckus at the hospital. Later, the matter was resolved when a local BJP legislator, Purkaji Pramod Utwal step in the matter and brought it to the notice of the Chief Minister\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SP Muzaffarnagar Abhishek Yadav said police have registered FIRs against both groups. He said the police are investigating the matter and whoever found guilty will not be spared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is not the first time, there has been an increasing trend of launching attacks on the hospital staff or the kin of the Covid victim following the victim\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, at Apollo hospital in Delhi’s Sarita Vihar, employees, including doctors and security guards, were allegedly attacked by Covid-19 patients attendants who died early in April. The incident left many hospital staff injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
