Amid escalating fight between Taliban and Afghan forces. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the militants group won’t negotiate with the Afghanistan government until Ashraf Ghani remains the country’s president. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking to foreign journalists in Islamabad, Imran Khan said a political settlement was looking difficult under current conditions. He said he tried to persuade the Taliban three-four months back when they were in Pakistan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The condition is that as long as Ashraf Ghani is there, Taliban is not going to talk to the Afghan government, Khan added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With peace talks stalled, violence in Afghanistan has escalated sharply as the insurgent group makes rapid territorial gains. The Taliban has taken control of six Afghan provincial capitals (over 65 per cent of Afghanistan). This has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes for the relative safety of Kabul and other centres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A US defence official said on Wednesday that Taliban fighters are likely to capture Afghanistan\u2019s capital in 30 days could take it over in 90 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afghan government has been criticising Islamabad for raising instability in the region as Kabul believes that Pakistan assists the Taliban in escalating violence in war-torn country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives of a number of countries, including the Untied States, are currently in the Qatari capital of Doha talking to both sides in a last-ditch push for a ceasefire before Aug 31 – the day all foreign forces officially exit Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India has been supporting a national peace and reconciliation process which is Afghan-led, Afghan-owned, and Afghan-controlled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afghanistan witnessed a series of terror attacks in the last few weeks as the United States looked to complete the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan by August-end, ending a nearly two-decade of its military presence in the war-ravaged country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
