A 9-feet-long statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was vandalised by members of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik group on Tuesday in Pakistan’s Lahore. The video of the same is being widely circulated on the internet. It has also been reported that the police have arrested one person, who was seen in the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the video, two-three men were trying to vandalise the statue and were trying to flee from the spot after that. It is reportedly said that this is the third time that some people have tried to vandalise Maharaja’s statue, which is located in the high-security Lahore Fort complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking about the statue, the Maharaja Rana Pratap’s statue was made of cold bronze and was unveiled at the Lahore Fort complex in June 2019 to celebrate the 180th death anniversary of the Maharaja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire, he ruled over Punjab for almost about 40 years. Later, he died in 1839.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the police, the statue was vandalised two months after it was installed. They said that the two men who vandalised it came to the fort as disable man and the other one was his helper. The man who was acting that he has a disability vandalised the statue with his rod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police also said that people think that it is against their religion to install a statue of a Sikh ruler in a Muslim country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the police also said that it took around eight months to complete the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the statue was made with his favourite horse in which the Maharaja was seated. That was the favourite horse of the Sikh ruler, named Kahar Bahar. It was a gift from his friend Muhammad Khan, the founder of the Barakzai dynasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
