Twitter today is dominated by tweets under the #IndiaOnSale. Netizens are furious over Narendra Modi’s National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) scheme and are showing their disappointment with the government.

In this episode, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday tagged the NMP scheme as an attempt to create monopolies in critical areas that would cut down more job opportunities and adversely affect small and medium businesses. Gandhi further accused the center of selling India’s crown jewels.

While addressing a press conference with former finance minister P Chidambaram, Gandhi said, “The Narendra Modi-led government is in the process of selling India’s crown jewels built by previous governments with public money over 70 years.”

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday released a four-year National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) worth an estimated Rs 6 lakh crore. The main objective of the scheme is to unlock value in brownfield projects by engaging the private sector, transferring only revenue rights to them and no ownership in the projects, and utilising the generated funds for infrastructure creation across the country.

“There is no land here, this entire (NMP) is talking about brownfield projects where investments have already been made, where there is a completed asset which is either languishing or it is not fully monetised or is under-utilised. So by bringing in private participation in this you will be able to monetise it better and ensure further investment in infrastructure building”, Sitharaman said.

First he did Demonetisation to stop future economy growth.

Now he is doing Monetisation to screw whatever we've built in the past.
