England thrashed Indian batters on Day 4 of the 3rd Test as the swagger-heavy Indian side couldn’t survive the first session of Day 4. They were all out and then tucked into what must have been a very gloomy lunch. After the end of Day 3, some Indian cricket experts had heaped praise for Kohli and Co as they managed to somehow evade the destruction yesterday. But that was merely a lull before the storm. India were gutted by the hosts on Day 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the forgettable start of Day 1, India tried to redeem the goodwill on Day 3. Cheteshwar Pujara with little support from Hit-Man Rohit and skipper Virat Kohli raised hopes of a survival. The famous Indian trio crossed the half-century mark very easily, with Pujara aiming for a ton after two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But as often is the case, things changed dramatically for India as the so-called saviour of the Indian team surrendered early and couldn’t save the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
England defeated India by an innings and 76 runs with almost two days left in the match. Not even a single Indian batter stood up against the English pace attack. India’s struggle with the bat in the middle has been there for the longest time now. Despite having ‘Run-Machine’ Kohli, the Indian team has gone begging for runs for quite a while now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fans across the world have been waiting for two years to see the skipper cross 99 runs. But it seems the captain is in no hurry to score runs, and has happily settled with his past performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kohli scored his last international century before in August 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic. With the continuous failure of the Indian middle order, social media is awash with people demanding a bloodbath and that the supersized egos of the Indian superstars be cut to size by inducting talented newcomers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With India’s defeat in Headingley, the series is levelled 1-1. England will take on India for the fourth Test of the series on September 2 at the Oval, London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
