Nutrition Week is observed from 1 to 7 September annually. The week aims to spread awareness about good nutrition, health and also to curb the problem of malnutrition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Initiatives have been taken up by the government focusing on nutrition, good food, healthy body, mind, and lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking about the importance of nutrition in Man Ki Baat on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that September will be observed as a nutrition month. He also asked the listeners to eat nutritious food and stay healthy during the nutrition month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the Theme<\/strong> of National Nutrition Week 2021?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The theme for National Nutrition Week 2021 is ‘Eat Right, Bite by Bite’. The theme for National Nutrition Week 2018 was ‘Go Further with Food’ while in 2017 was ‘Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time, the theme focuses on the main source of nutrition which should be chosen wisely and requires you to explore the nutritious food options which are provided by mother nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why nutrition is Important?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nutrition is the science or practise of consuming and utilising foods. Food provides our body with energy, protein, essential fats, vitamins, and minerals to live, grow, and function properly. Therefore, a balanced diet is important for good health and well being. It is said that an unhealthy diet increases the risk of many diet-related diseases. People should include a healthy diet in their daily routine like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fat-free milk, etc. full of nutrition which not only helps in growth but also make the immune system strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is history behind National Nutrition Week?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

National Nutrition Week was started by the members of the American Dietetic Association (now the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) in March 1973. It aimed to deliver the message of nutrition literacy to the public along with the promotion of the profession of nutritionist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1982, the National Nutrition week celebration was initiated by the Indian government. This campaign is aimed at bringing awareness and motivating people to understand the importance of nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Malnutrition?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Malnutrition is a physical state of an unbalanced nutrition level due to undernutrition or overnutrition. Undernutrition can be caused due to a lack of calories, protein or other nutrients while eating too many calories caused overnutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malnutrition can lead to stunted growth, developmental delays, and more sickness due to poor immune function. So, it is important that malnutrition is diagnosed in a timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To overcome the problem of malnutrition, a balanced diet and proper knowledge about nutrition can play an important role in our day to day life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
