{"id":17510,"date":"2017-05-24T15:22:17","date_gmt":"2017-05-24T09:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=17510"},"modified":"2017-05-24T15:28:19","modified_gmt":"2017-05-24T09:58:19","slug":"tata-motors-cuts-off-workforce-1500","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/business-news\/tata-motors-cuts-off-workforce-1500\/","title":{"rendered":"Tata Motors cuts off workforce up to 1,500"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>The company also joins the growing list of firms including Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Cognizant adopting such lay off measures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tata Motors on Tuesday announced it has reduced its managerial workforce by up to 1500 people domestically in an attempt to revamp its organisational structure.<\/p>\n<p>After announcing the Company\u2019s yearly earnings for 2016-17, the Company\u2019s Managing Director and Chief executive Guenter Butschek said, \u201cThe reference (total managers) on which we started (the exercise) was in the vicinity of 13,000\u2026 we do see as far as the white collar population is concerned, an overall reduction in the vicinity of 10-12 percent (up to 1,500),\u201d reported news agency <em>Press Trust of India<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The company also joins the growing list of firms including Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Cognizant adopting such measures, reasons ranging from cutting the flab and automation.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, power and construction giant, Larsen and Toubro along with HDFC Bank had announced the reduction of its workforce over 10,000 people in 2017 financial year.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>Press Trust of India<\/em>, the Company\u2019s group Chief Financial Officer, C Ramakrishnan said, \u201cWe underwent a very detailed exercise in terms of the roles, the requirements and the fitment of the roles etc. It was a very comprehensive exercise which we rolled out over a 6-9 month period which also factored in performance and leadership qualities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also called this move a \u201cholistic fundamental review\u201d.
