The meeting is being considered a show of strength for the opposition on a day the Narendra Modi government is completing three years in office.<\/p>\n<p>Kejriwal is said to have not received an invitation because his party has so far not taken part in any joint opposition program. Kejriwal has criticised the BJP and the Congress equally for the present corrupt political scenario in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Among those expected to participate are Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati. Representatives of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal United and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will also attend the lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Nitish Kumar had earlier proposed a second term for President Pranab Mukherjee, while the Congress has failed to convince Sharad Pawar for becoming presidential candidate. The names of Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s grandson Gopalkrishna Gandhi and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar were also being discussed.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said the opposition parties were more or less sure of losing the presidential elections but want to test the ground for an anti-BJP alliance for the 2019 general elections. Some observers believe that opposition, during their Friday meeting, may not announce their nominee but will prepare strategy to act in the probable scenario. Many opposition leaders have been waiting for the announcement of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for president.<\/p>\n<p>The West Bengal chief minister, who is in the capital, is slated to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for discussing development of her state.
