A woman in Delhi was denied entry to Aquila restaurant as she was wearing a saree. Apparently, the restaurant’s staff told her that they only allow people in smart casual and what she was wearing did not come under that. The video of the same is doing rounds on the internet and has caused outrage on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the video, it can be seen that the restaurant staff is not allowing entry to the woman who was in saree and when she asked why can’t she go inside. To which, one of the management staff members said that we only allow people in smart casual and what you are wearing does not come under that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video was shared with the caption in which it was written that saree is not allowed in Aquila restaurant as Indian saree is now not smart outfit. What is the concrete definition of a smart outfit please tell me. The woman further wrote that people should tell her that what is a smart outfit so that she will stop wearing a saree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident happened with journalist Anita Choudhry and she said that after that many excuses were given against the saree but she was not allowed to sit in the restaurant because the Indian paridhan saree is not a smart outfit in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As soon as the video went viral on social media, tweeple started posting pictures in saree in support of the woman and said that saree is our pride. One of the users wrote that is this real India, one can not wear a saree to the restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another user wrote that this is nothing but a direct attack on Indian culture. Yet another wrote that all clubs not allowing guests wearing a saree must be clubbed as those exhibiting racism against our own in our own country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
