{"id":18584,"date":"2017-06-05T19:23:16","date_gmt":"2017-06-05T13:53:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/?p=18584"},"modified":"2017-06-05T19:23:20","modified_gmt":"2017-06-05T13:53:20","slug":"china-says-indias-nsg-bid-become-complicated-new-circumstances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/apnlive.com\/world-news\/china-says-indias-nsg-bid-become-complicated-new-circumstances\/","title":{"rendered":"China says India&#8217;s NSG bid has become more complicated under new circumstances"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>PM Narendra Modi is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping during SCO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China on Monday made it clear that it will continue to block India&#8217;s attempts to join the elite Nuclear Suppliers Group, stating that the country\u2019s bid has become more complicated\u00a0 under new circumstances as it again ruled out backing New Delhi&#8217;s entry in the grouping, saying there should be a non-discriminatory solution applicable to all non-NPT signatory countries<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, China has been obstructing India&#8217;s membership in the 48-nation grouping which controls the nuclear commerce despite the fact that India supports majority of its members.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;About the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) it is a new issue under the new circumstances and it is more complicated than the previously imagined,&#8221; said China&#8217;s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Li Huilai. He did not elaborate what are the new circumstances and complications.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;China supports the NSG to have consultation for reaching non-discriminatory and universally applicable solution, applicable to all members of the NSG,&#8221; Huilai added.<\/p>\n<p>Huilai further said \u00a0China wants to deepen relations with India. &#8220;China and India are important neighbours and both are fast developing, both are emerging new market economies. Both are important forces upholding peace and stability,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>All eyes are now on the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting which is scheduled to take place on June 8 and 9 at Astana in Kazakhstan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit.<\/p>\n<p>India was granted an NSG waiver in 2008 that allows it to engage in nuclear commerce, but deprives it of a vote in the organisation&#8217;s decision making.
