Here’s what we know

The defending champions Mumbai Indians are virtually out of the playoffs race, however only math is keeping them alive in the tournament. Rohit Sharma-led MI need nothing less than a miracle to qualify for the playoffs, as Kolkata Knight Riders won their previous match against Rajasthan Royals with a big margin of 86-runs. Which not only helped them to increase their net-run-rate but also sealed their chances into playoffs.

On the other hand,if, by any chance Mumbai Indians manages to beat Sunrisewrs Hyderabad in tonight’s match by 170, or more runs, only then MI have a chance to qualify for playoffs. In the history of Indian Premier League (IPL), never have a team won more than 146 runs. Interestingly, Mumbai Indians is the team with the biggest win in terms of runs, when five-time champion beat Delhi Capitals by 146 runs in 2017. To qualify for the playoffs Mumbai Indians have to beat their own record, which is very unlikely against SRH.
