The special CBI court has convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, and four others guilty for the murder of his disciple Ranjit Singh in 2002. The special CBI convicted them on Friday and the quantum of the sentence will come on October 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The special court judge of Panchkula, Dr Sushil Kumar Garg, held Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Sabdil Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh and Inder Sain guilty of the murder of Ranjit Singh in 2002. They have been held under section 302 (murder) and 120 b (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. Moreover, Inder Sain, Jasbir Singh and Krishan Lal have also been held under the Arms Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the charge sheet of the CBI, Ranjit Singh, who was killed in 2002, was the manager of the Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa (Haryana), and he was suspected of circulating an anonymous letter in which Dera chief was accused of sexually assaulting and exploiting women followers inside the Dera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This letter was also highlighted in a news report by a local journalist, Ram Chander Chhatrapati, and he was also subsequently killed. Earlier, Ram Rahim was also convicted in the murder case of Ram Chander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When was Ranjit Singh murdered?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ranjit Singh was murdered in 2002 on July 19. He was killed in the jurisdiction of Thanesar police station in Kurukshetra in Haryana. An FIR was also registered at Thanesar police station and on November 10, 2003, the High Court had ordered a CBI investigation in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
