The festive season is around the corner and amidst this, the brands are coming up with creative advertisements to attract the audience. However, they are receiving major flak as the people are finding some of the ads controversial and disrespectful. Well, as the trolls are busy trolling some ads, there is one advertisement that has impressed people.

Recently, Dabur’s Fem came up with an ad for Karwa Chauth that featured same sex couple and has impressed some people for representation of the queer community in that. Meanwhile, there are others who trolled the ad for using same sex couple to promote the idea of fair and glowing skin.

In the advertisement, it can be seen that two young women are getting ready for their first Karwa Chauth and were bleaching their faces with Dabur’s Fem bleach. One woman asks the other why is she fasting today, to which the other woman replies that she is fasting for the long life of her other half.

Then the other woman asks that why is she fasting, to which she replies and says for the prosperous life of her other half. Then they both are seen getting ready, and it was seen that they both fasted for each other.

Several users appreciated the advertisement and said that this is a nice film for a traditional, often-criticized festival by an otherwise conservative brand.

On the other hand, some people said that the only thing they didn’t like was that eagerness to get the glow.

Mixed feelings about this one – accepting non traditional relationships is good, but then promoting a misogynistic tradition and also spreading the "fair is beautiful" trope.
— The Shah of Blah 🌈 (@mrgnk) October 23, 2021
