The common man finally got the reason to celebrate Diwali as the fuel prices saw a major drop in its prices on Thursday, November 4, across the nation. This big relief came after the government reduced excise duty so that to bring down the retail rates that were touching the sky. According to the Indian oil corporation, in Delhi, petrol rates have been slashed down by Rs 6.07 and now it costs Rs 103.97, while diesel rates have been slashed by Rs 11.75 and now it costs Rs 86.67. Earlier, the price of petrol and diesel skyrocketed in the national capital as the petrol cost Rs 110.04 and diesel was at Rs 98.42 per litre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is reported that the government has taken the decision to cut down the excise duty on fuel prices but that will cost the government Rs 1.4 lakh crore annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the finance ministry said that the government of India has taken a significant decision of reducing Central Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 per litre respectively from November 4, 2021. The statement further read that the prices of petrol and diesel will now come down accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, nine BJP ruled states also announced additional cuts in petrol and diesel prices soon after the Centre reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 on November 3, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
