Chitragupta Puja falls on the second day of the Shukla Paksha of Kartik month and is observed by the Kayastha community of North India. Also known as Chitragupta Jayanti, the festival is being celebrated today, November 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The special Puja is conducted to commemorate the Lord Chitragupta who is the accountant of Yama who maintains all the records of humans. He is also considered the Lord of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Significance of Chitragupta Puja<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the auspicious occasion, the Kayastha community worship ink-pot, pen, and notebook. According to Hindu mythology, Chitragupta maintains the record of humans and when a soul leaves a body, then he is the one who decides to take the soul to heaven or hell. He is also known as Dharamraj. It is believed that the Kayastha community are the children of Chitragupta. Therefore, the community observes this puja every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to another belief, Lord Chitragupta was incarnated when the ocean was churned. 14 gems were obtained when the ocean was churned, the same event where he is said to have originated with Goddess Lakshmi. Lord Chitragupta is said to be worshipped with Goddess Jwalamukhi, Goddess Chandi, and Mahishasur Mardini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chitragupta Puja 2021 shubh muhurat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dwitiya Tithi starts- 11:15 pm, November 5 to 7:44 pm, November 6
Shubh Muhurat- November 6, after 12 noon for 1:15 minutes or in the evening for 3:25 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chitragupta 2021 Puja Vidhi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the auspicious day, the devotee starts with taking a shower and wearing clean clothes. Then, they make a traditional rangoli that is specifically drawn in the East direction of the idol where Lord Chitragupta is placed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, devotees put tikka, light diyas, and offer flowers and bhog to Lord Chitragupta. Now, devotees take vermillion, turmeric, abir, and sandalwood paste to make a Swastika sign on the floor near Lord Chitragupta’s idol. While performing the puja, devotees recite the\u00a0holy book of Chitragupta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Devotees also make Guraadi which is prepared by ginger and jaggery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
