Tulsi or the Basil is considered the most sacred plant in Hinduism. Apart from its medicinal properties, the herb is worshipped in almost every Hindu house. It is believed that Tulsi is supposed to be Vrinda who was transformed into a plant by Lord Vishnu who is very close to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year, on the eleventh day during the waxing phase of the Moon in Kartik month, Tulsi is married to Lord Vishnu. The event is celebrated as Tulsi Vivah every year on the Ekadashi Tithi of the Kartik, Shukla Paksha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tulsi Vivah is being celebrated today, November 14. Every year, the day occurs on the Gregorian date, November 15. Devotees who are observing the Prabhodini Ekadashi Vrat today will celebrate Tulsi Vivah today itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tulsi Vivah 2021 shubh muhurat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Ekadashi tithi will start at 5:48 AM on November 14 and end at 6:39 AM on November 15. The Dwadashi tithi will start at 6:39 AM on November 15 and end at 8:01 AM on November 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Significance of Tulsi Vivah<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tulsi plant is an intrinsic part of all festivals and pujas among Hindus. The herb is planted in every Hindu family and worshipped every day. It signifies well being, prosperity, and purity. According to Hindu mythology, Tulsi is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu’s wife, Goddess Lakshmi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young girls and women who are looking for a good husband in future perform the Tulsi Vivah Puja every year. The ritual is also followed during a Hindu wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tulsi Vivah rituals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion, devotees observe fast and chant mantras of Lord Krishna and Goddess Tulsi. They prepare everything for the wedding which usually takes place in the courtyard of the house. A mandap is set and the Tulsi plant is decorated like a bride. Lord Krishna’s idol is also donned with pieces of jewellery and new clothes for the wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
